Today Payton is 5 months old. My where has the time gone?
Payton keeps us very busy I must say. She does something new each day it seems and just keeps making us smile. She weighs around 17 lbs. She is wearing size 3 diapers and size 6, 9, & 12 month clothes depending on where they come from.
Eating:
Payton is eating 5 oz every 3 hours. At bedtime I give her 6 oz of water but enough formula for 5 oz. About a week ago I started giving her baby food. She loves it. I started out giving her green beans. She seemed to like them. At first she was unsure and her tongue would push the food out, but now she is getting better at keeping it in her mouth. Then a few days after starting the vegetables I started the fruits. She loved those too!! I have been giving her food in the morning after she wakes up and has her first bottle for the day. Then in the evening I give her food before her last bottle of the night. This seems to be working as of now.
Sleep:
While Phil and I were gone on our honeymoon Payton started sleeping about 10 hours straight through the night. I was so excited to hear that when we returned home. I figured that is what would happen while we were gone and then when we got home that she would stop. She slept all through the night for 3 days straight after we got home. But then she became pretty sick on the 4th day, so the sleeping straight through stopped. It was nice while it lasted. She still is doing pretty good, she is sleeping about 7 hours the first time I lay her down and then wakes up to be fed and then goes back to sleep for 3-4 hours. Some nights vary though.
As far as nap time, I haven't had that much luck. I know I have spoiled her so much that is why she doesn't nap good for me. She will fall asleep in the car but then as soon as we get out of the car she wakes up. And when I do get her to sleep at home, if I try to lay her down she usually wakes up. I have been trying to lay her down and let her cry, but I am so weak. So it isn't working for me just yet. I will give it more time and hopefully it will get better, or should I say hopefully I will get better. :)
Activities:
Payton is getting better on her tummy and holding her head up. I have been trying to work with her each day. She is not rolling over yet. I guess she will when "she" is ready!!
She is good at playing by herself for about 20 minutes at a time. After that she is ready for some attention. She would prefer if I held her all day long. Some days it feels like I do. She grabs things and is holding her toys in her hands more and more each day. She loves her teethers, it seems to help her gums.
She is sitting up by herself better each day as well. Of course she can't do it by herself but she is trying and doing well.
This is her new jumperoo that we got her, she is unsure of it too, but she is getting used to it more each time we put her in it.
Don't let her full you, she is smiling because Word World is on the TV. :)
I must say that Payton is such a happy baby and we couldn't be more blessed!!!!
