Selling Our First Home

When we first bought our house our goal was to stay there until Payton started kindergarten and we would then moved and of course hoped our family had grown by then. I thought maybe I would have 3 kids by now, but He had other plans and we were blessed with baby #2 just 6 short months ago. When just the 3 of us lived there I felt like we “outgrew” the house. You accrue more and more things over the years as you all know.  Anyhow, I am getting off of subject…. Payton starting kindergarten has snuck up on us, not really I have known but it came way too fast in my opinion.

We decided at the end of May that we would move in with my mom and step dad and then get the house cleaned up and ready to sell. It all happened so quickly. We put a sign in the yard on Friday June 13th. We got a good contract on Friday June 25th. We are hoping to close on July 15th. I’m sure that date will change, but as of now that’s when we are supposed to close.

It was very bittersweet for us the first couple of days as we were trying to get everything out of the house and moved into storage or over at my moms. We quickly got over that. We know that we are going to buy a bigger and better home… well that’s what we keep telling out 5 year old. :) She didn’t understand why we were getting rid of this house… she liked her room. We explained to her that she will love her new room wherever we end up. And we will paint stripes for her or whatever she may want come that day.

I do miss our house because I made the girls rooms there (and obviously for other reasons)… I made Paisley a nursery there… But, I know I can do that again somewhere else.

I guess I need to drive back by and get a picture with the FOR SALE sign in the yard.

We also told her we would get her a new play set and bigger trampoline. DSC_0957 DSC_0959 DSC_0962

Prayers for a quick and smooth sale. And prayers we find what we are looking for.

Getting the Nursery Ready

Over the weekend we began to get the nursery started. Well- I should say Phil, Terry, and Geoff did. Although, I did help paint some trim around the doors. Other than that, I just supervised :)

We had picked the paint color out a couple of weeks ago. I bought a few different samples to choose from and I am actually really happy with the purple that I chose.

Friday night Phil and I went to buy the new baseboards and the paint. We were trying to have everything ready to make it go as smooth as possible. But, you always have to make a few trips back to Lowes. Always.

Saturday morning Terry came over and they began to paint all the walls purple except for one, they painted solid white. Geoff would be coming Sunday to do the purple stripes on the walls. They did the baseboards as well.

Then Saturday night I painted around the door trims and window seal and Phil took off all of the doors so that on Sunday they could sand them and then paint them white.

Sunday took another full day. But, glad and happy to say that the painting is finished! And I love it! I am excited to decorate over the next couple of days. Well- I guess I should say get the crib put up and bedding on her bed, curtains hung etc. I do not have a lot of decor going up. I probably wont post pictures until I am completely done with the room. Probably wont be until after my shower since I will be getting a few things there.

But, for now… it’s painted… :)

Last week I let Payton make a painting to  hang in her little sisters room. Marla did this with Parker when she was pregnant with Grace and I thought it was a great idea.

She did the ALL ON HER OWN. I did not help her at all… So I guess I am saying I am impressed…

Turquoise is my accent color. I will have a couple of things that are turquoise to add a little more color. There is a little turquoise in her baby bedding.

Last Wednesday

Last Wednesday Payton and I ran lots of errands and got pedicures. We also were getting a new roof put on so we were gone the first half of the day so we didn't have to sit and listen to all the banging. I was up at 6:45 when they first got to the house. Payton slept through A LOT of banging on the roof. She didn't get up until 8:45. I even went in her room and took a picture and she didn't move.
We went to lots of different stores getting ready for vacation. Ate lunch at Wendy's
Got our toes done
Then the evening we went to Payton's friend, Hunter's 5th birthday party at Chuckee Cheese.
We had a very busy day. Stay tuned for our vacation posts!!

New Bathroom

A few weeks ago we redid our spare bathroom. I painted the cabinets black. We replaced all the fixtures and things. Did new baseboards. The only thing left to do is buy a new toilet and we want to put a frame around the mirror. Probably will get that done in the next few weeks.

I LOVE my new shower curtain. I am going to make Payton a new towel too! I have ordered fabric, just waiting for it to come in! I am also going to hang a few things in there, just haven’t gotten around to it.

Sorry I didn’t close the toilet in the first picture!! :)

Reorganizing

The other night I decided to reorganize my pantry. Kristina did hers and it really made me want to do mine! I got this shoe holder thing at Lowes for around $10 bucks. Well worth it!! My pantry looks “clean” now. You know how it gets all cluttered and half the time you don’t even know what you have or don’t have in there. Well that is fixed in our household!!

Oh yes, and while I was in the kitchen doing this. Payton did this……

DSC_0527 Yup, colored her whole face. This is all so crazy to me. She has recently been coloring all over herself. When she was younger I never had to worry about her doing it. But, now…. she can’t be trusted with ANY markers. In fact, today (Friday) she used a marker to color all over our carpet. (it did come out, but still). And when I ask her why she did it, she tells me “Because I wanted too” REALLY? I know that!! I can’t help but laugh. And probably doesn’t help that after she does this I take pictures of her. But, I never want to forget these moments!!

Work in Progress

Well, we weren’t sure that we were even going to do it this year, but after reading Megan’s post on their flower beds, made me want to get ours done!!! Which we aren’t done yet…. But the hard part seems to be over with!!

Now for Sunday………

Payton slept till 10 am today…. Couldn’t believe it.. She was one tired baby girl!! After sleeping so long, I figured I would keep her up all day so that I can put her to bed early tonight! She has done really well all day long. We have been outside the ENTIRE day… Literally.. She has been running around everywhere, swinging, doing everything!!

Team work!!
