Where is "Phul"

Every time Parker sees a picture of Phil she says his name, which comes out as "Phul." So then we started asking her "where is Phil?" And she of course would say "wor" aka "work" because that is where everyone is when you ask Parker where someone is. So we started teaching her that Phil is in Iraq. And Iraq comes out as "Irat." It is the cutest thing. I got it on video this evening.

8 weeks old

Today our little girl is 8 weeks old. I hardly can believe it. Even though some days seem to last forever, time really has flown by. Payton has been sleeping better during the night. She is still not sleeping through the entire night, but I can tell that she is at least progressing. The longest she has gone without being fed is 7 hours. The longest she has actually slept is around 5 hours. She usually goes right back to sleep after her feedings through the night. Her crying spells have gotten a lot better. On a good day I can put her in her swing and she might put herself to sleep for a little while. On a bad day I usually spend my entire day holding her and get nothing done.

She has now started trying to suck her thumb. Although it is very cute to watch her try to figure out how to get her thumb in her mouth, it is not something I want her doing. I try to put the pacifier in her mouth with she does this.

Payton has three different cries. One cry is her "fake" cry. Another cry is when you have just made her so angry she can't stop crying. And the last cry is when she cries as though someone is hurting her (this happens when she is constipated, (TMI?) my poor baby).

Payton doesn't really like car rides. This is why I hardly go anywhere. It seems like most baby's like it in the car and fall right to sleep once you start driving. But my child is not like most baby's. When she was first born and in her "sleeping" all the time phase then yes she would sleep in the car. But now that she is "growing up" she does not like to be in the car seat, she would rather you hold her.

She is still eating 5 oz every 3 to 4 hours. Of course during the night it may be longer. Her spitting up has gotten so much better. It still happens, just doesn't seem to be as often as before.

She is definitely a mommas girl right now, but I am cherishing it while I can because I know once daddy gets home that may change :).

Smiling in her growing chair :)

Cute little outfit with a bow in her hair :)

Who's diaper is this??

This evening my step dad watched Payton while me and my mom went on a walk. When I came back he had gotten her ready for bed. She was wearing one of the little gowns, so of course when you are holding her it rises up and you can see her diaper/legs. My mom was holding her, I was sitting next to my mom, and I looked over and thought Payton's diaper looked different. It looked like it was sagging a lot, and I knew her diaper couldn't be that full yet since she had just been changed. I took a closer look and realized she was wearing one of Parker's diapers. I started laughing and asked Terry why he put Payton in Parker's diapers?? You see, we have two clear bags on the side of the chair in the living room, one is filled with size 4 diapers for Parker and the other is filled with size 1 diapers for Payton. Anyways, I thought this was really funny so I took a picture of the diaper actually on Payton, and then the two separate diapers so you can see the size difference. What is even more funny is that the diaper doesn't even look humongous on her.

Happy first Father's Day to Phil

Dear Daddy,

I hope you have a wonderful Father's day. I love you very much. Even though you are not here with us we are celebrating what a great daddy you are. We miss you very much and cannot wait to see you in a couple months.

Love,
Payton

Today Payton and I went to my dads for lunch. Here are a few pictures.

Playtime

Payton having some playtime this afternoon. You can see a few oos and awws through the videos. She did so well this morning, she put herself to sleep in the swing and stayed in there for an hour and a half while I got to talk to Daddy on the phone. She is getting so big. I got a Flip video for my birthday, and now that I know what I am doing you will be seeing lots more videos. This way Phil can see her too.

I'm a little girl

I tried putting Payton in the Bumbo seat this morning. She did well. I know it may be a little early, not too sure. But she just sat and looked at me like "mommy what are you doing to me?" Then I took her out and put her in mommy and daddy's chair. It is not her growing chair. She just looks like a little girl in her little blue jean shorts.

Quick video

Here is a video of Payton!! She was holding her rattle. Didn't last too long. But it is too cute. Oh and she has the hiccups. And the background noise is my niece Parker. :)

Morning Smile

This morning we got woken up to some very very loud noises. We are getting a new roof. I figured that Payton wouldn't be too happy. But here is her morning smile. She was laughing and cooing so much. It is hard to snap the pictures. When I put the camera in her face she stops. But I did the best I could. :)

A fun filled day

Today me and Payton went and spent the day with my friend Michelle and her two kiddos. We had a good time. Payton actually did so well. She made me look like I am lying about her crying. She took a nap so mommy could swim for a little while, it was nice. She never takes naps without me holding her, but she did over at their house. She just looked around at Maddie and Jayse. She let them hold her and love on her with no problem. I was a very proud momma.

Does it ever get any better??

I am diagnosing my child with COLIC. (I don't even know if it something to diagnose, but I am) If she isn't eating or sleeping she is screaming at the top of her lungs. I can't stick a bottle in her mouth every time she cries this way, but it seems like I end up trying to feed her because I don't know what else to do for her. At this point I am very stressed and in tears. I thought maybe she just had a few rough days, but no this happens every single day. I know I have my mom and step dad helping me out but it isn't the same, I wish Phil was here with me. I miss him terribly.

I was originally going to blog today with these pictures I took of Payton in her swimsuit, but as the day has gotten more stressful I thought I would blog about her crying. But I will go ahead and share these pictures, this was a moment (literally a moment) that I got lucky and she was not screaming.

Dr. Visit

Well this morning I took Payton to the doctor and she weighs 11 lbs 10 oz!!! Can you believe it?? My baby is getting SO big!! I took her in to talk with the nurse practitioner about her spitting up in the night. She does have acid reflux. It isn't too bad at this point. She told me to try feeding her less and maybe more frequent through the day. My first thought was this will not work for my child. She has been eating 5 oz every 3 to 4 hours since she was 3 weeks old. (I know that is a lot but she is a big baby and she is a hungry baby) But, the nurse seems to think that if I feed her even just 4 oz then it would help with her spitting up. So today I have only fed her 4 oz verses the 5 oz and she seemed to be satisfied. So I am hoping this will help. She also said to sit her up more while we are feeding her, not to lay her down until after 30 minutes of feeding her, burp her after ounce (which I try to do anyways), and make sure she is not getting too much air in the bottle during her feeding. So we will see how this works for us!!

I think this might be the trick...

Yesterday I decided to lay Payton on her tummy to take her nap and she loved it. This way I am not holding her through her entire nap like I have been. I watch her very closely. But I know once her head is stronger and she can hold it up then this little girl will be sleeping on her tummy full time!! These are pictures from this mornings nap.

These pictures have nothing to do with her napping, but I was talking to Payton this morning and she just kept smiling so much. If I had of been thinking then I would have gotten a video of her smiling the whole time. Maybe next time!!
